Just in the middle of planting it ATM.

You can even see the plant research computer monitor reflection.

Note the ubiquitous cleaning pad on top of the light :)

Just the stock I have now... Which I consider be be high end red / painted red. I don't cull them though.
Using them as I don't care if some get eaten.

It's the same piece that I had in my 50.

Actually 2 pieces that kind of lock together, great for stuffing full of java fern.

I don't know how everyone manages to remember the common names of their plants, let alone the official names. I can never remember what is in my tanks. http://www.eastcoastaquariumsociety.ca/forum/images/smilies/NEW/emoticon%20%2859%29.gif

Still needs more sand added to the cap in a few spots

Pretty cloudy yet with the water off gassing and the little bit a clay that made it to the water column

Well I have all the fish in:

2 x SAE
2 x BN Pleco
4 x Oto
4 x Horned Nerite Snail
9 x Panda Cory
14 x Cherry Shrimp
24 x Cardinal Tetra

I will be adding more Otos, shrimp, nerites, and cardinals yet.

Everything seems to be going well, good plant growth, no algae.
The one issue is the Crypt balansae, I am getting crazy melt with it, that I have never had before when replanting it.
We'll see if it bounces back.

Well the Corys came out of Quarantine yesterday, only lost 2. Fungus.

The Cardinals are still in QT. Not doing so well, losing 2-3 / day. NTD.

Both tanks were medicated from the start, but the Cardinals wern't very healthy to start with. But I figured with a 14 day warranty I'll just keep exchanging until I get some healthy ones.

I hate to lose fish, but I figure at least they have a chance with me rather than dying in some stores tanks.

Man that's rough. But good for showing new people why you should Qt

Nuggs
02-25-2014, 01:42 PM
Its weird as Cardinals are usually resistant to NTD. They can still get it, but these guys were just ravaged with it.
I guess with shipping stress though they would be suceptable.

Neon tetra disease I think. I do not think fish have neural tube defects. Tank looks great nuggs., Are you using Co2?

Yep, right now it's a fluval CO2 regulator bubba'd to a 24Oz paintball bottle.

I have a AQUATEK CO2 regulator w/ solenoid and six outlet adapter behind me. Could be better but I couldn't pass it up for $25. I've got to get off my ass and pick up a CO2 bottle first.

We'll see.....

In my main "show" tank I don't know if I'd do it again.... or if I did I would mineralize the soil first.

Dirt is really great in smaller tanks, plants love it.
But it's a pain in larger where you want to redecorate, at least thats my oppinion.

Yeah both of my newer shrimp tanks are dirted.

Have dirt in all of the shrimp tanks and it works great, in smaller tanks you usually scape it and let it be, so then dirt is perfect.
Have been running the 14L IKEA vase for quite a while now(before I became a member) with no work at all except water change now and then, and the rilis(had crystals in it earlier) seems to thrive and the water is crystal with only an airstone.
