Well thanks to Jay we were able to get the tank in today (Jay may be crippled).

48" x 24" x 30"

Its not where its actually going to end up, need to play with the plumbing a bit yet, and possible build a canopy.

Very nice! With all that height it would make an amazing seahorse tank...hehe just saying :)

Moving my 75G reef into this.

Got a ways to go yet though.

Paint stand and tank back.
Build canopy or light hangers.
Re-plumb with Herbie overflows.
New sump.

First impressions Holy #$%^ that thing is big. (Hat added for size comparison)

Picked up the paint for the stand and back glass today, then started working on the plumbing.

2 hours later, Drain bulkhead removed, still working on the return bulkhead.
It was installed backwards, and then about 1/2 lb of calking put over it.

I may cut a hacksaw blade in half and saw the thing off.

Did you try brute force and ignorance?

Nuggs

Did you try brute force and ignorance?

Nope.

Don't want to break the glass. Plus the nut is actually inside the overflow, 30" down so you can't reach it.

When it was installed backwards by the prior owner I assume he used the inserted pipe to tighten it.

Holy mackerel... that sucks!

Yeah I knew it was going to be an issue. It held water fine before, but I wasnt going to trust it.

I've just been putting off pulling it apart

BAH!

Finally got the damn things off!

Looks like they're drilled 1/3/4" so I need 1" bulkheads.

I think Dave said AFK had some.

Well the back of the tank is painted, sump is built and everything is plumbed in.

Leak test and a run in period with FW is done (just to test the flow and tune everything).

All thats left is to build a light mount and paint the stand.

Might be moving everything in tomorrow.

Well I was really bad at updating this thread.

I'll try and get a current pic posted after I do my maintenance today.

Was a little busy selling off frags and breaking down my last FW tank.

Nuggs

Yeah I am still really surprised about the lighting. Not bad for Chinese LEDs

Nuggs
06-28-2015, 11:06 PM
I am considering adding in 2 x T5, mostly for filler light to reduce the shadow I get at the top from the 2 LEDs and the center brace.
Its exacerbated by the tank height.

Lookin good man!

Nuggs
06-29-2015, 09:44 PM
Well apparently I accidentally designed a perfect tank to sump ratio.

Came home today to see the tank almost overflowing. It was literally millimeters from the top.

Return section was empty, and of course the ATO was empty after trying to maintain the tank volume.

The cause, not one, not two, but THREE 1" striped trochus snails.

Kamikaze little buggers.

Staceym
06-29-2015, 09:46 PM
OUff thats lucky! How much RO did the ATO dump in? Hoping it didn't drop the salinity too much!

Nuggs
06-29-2015, 09:47 PM
ATO was half full so about 5G.

But with the tank volume it barely budged and without major SPS it was no big deal thankfully

Staceym
06-29-2015, 10:07 PM
Thats good! Another reason why bigger is better when it comes to salt haha

Well the 150G is almost ready to be broken down.

All that's left is rock and sand that are spoken for, and the Coral I'm keeping for my 20G

Nuggs
08-09-2015, 05:38 PM
Selling. Moving what I can into a 20G all-in-one.

Probably going to move next year and it'll be easier to move, plus I have a few months now vs next year when I'll be at sea steady.
