    Protein Skimmer questions

What`s a good quality skimmer for 65g tank?
What compartment of your sump do you put it? In the refugium or beside the return pump in the last compartment? Or, does it matter?

Put it in the area where your display drains to, it's the one area that always has the same water level so the skimmer will run properly. I've only tried 2 different skimmers and one was a seaclone which is absolutely terrible. The other is the Bubble Magus Curve 5, and I love it. It pulls some seriously nasty stuff.. Bubble magus has some nice skimmers for good prices and they are very quiet.

I really like my bubble magus. Good price; and even though my tank is new hauls out all kinds a crap!

My sump has three compartments.. I am moving it into the first compartment where water comes into the sump because I want to use the 2nd compartment where it currently is a bit of a makeshift fuge. I wouldn't put it in with the return because sometimes they make bubbles and you don't want to have micro bubbles in your tank.

    I am no expert though.

Makes sense, I guess I`ll have to modify my sump design plans. I`m glad I asked before I started my build. Thanks guys.

Yup..bubble magus is great, and we have it in our first and a semi-fuge in the second. In our 70g tank we have a 29g sump. So far so good.
