I want to learn more about the corals I have so I`m going to start this thread to id them along with a brief description of each one. Any input or correction on these corals is welcome.

I'll be interested in seeing what you have and what they are. I'm just starting to put corals in my tank.

Which one is your favorite? I wonder how big they were when she got them and how long it got to get that big?? Did Kat start with 1 inch frags? I really like the shape of the Staghorn but the color of the purple Valida :)

The teal stag is my favorite but there are a lot of others i like as well. I`m going to try to get them all id`ed in this thread. The miami hurricane chalice is nice. The value of this one makes it intriquing. The candy canes are always nice and bright. I have 3 lps corals and 2 are the candycanes. I don`t know how big they were when Kat first got them but i think she had the tank running for at least 6 years with nothing added to it in the last 2. Hopefully I can keep it healthy and disease-free. I`m starting to deal with a bit of diatom algae now.

I saw the chalice when I went to grap most of her sps when she had it up for sale, but I wasn't that much interested in chalices back then or didn't really know what they were... and yes it is not cheap... I asked her again once I started liking chalices and I think you already had dibs on the whole thing. I've only bought my first chalice like a month ago but then got a few from Fragalot, I now have 6 hehe... if you frag that Miami or a piece breaks off can I have dibs on buying it???

I did start with frags!! the valida was half the length of my pinkie...single stick...the soletaryensis was 3/4 the current size and brown..it has slight purple tips and bright green polyps, the granulosa...was a single pinkie branch...all are about 8 years old and have literally been fragged dozens and dozens of times!

I'm sure it must have been amazing to watch something grow so big from a little frag, well done :)

Nice pics. Since it is hard to tell, how big are your chalices?
