    Thanks everyone !!

Ivorylace, they would need something 4' long, 75-90 range to raise out a pair and they would be fine for 2-3 years or so then when breeding starts sonething 6' long is better.

pairs get VERY defensive with fry and can start to fight eachother. 4' just isnt enough space when in that parenting.

Just another quick update. I've started to see the first signs of gender now in the juvies. Surprisingly early at only ~4" some males have already started butting heads and dancing for females. I really did not expect to see this sort of behavior or these colors so young but its quite entertaining to watch.

Luckily it's mostly displays and the few that break into fights are minor.

Also worth noting i've noticed the patents will break up fights between juvie males. Chasing off the instigator for a while until he settles down

I'll try to get a video of the juvie males displaying/fighting this weekend. If im lucky i'll catch the parents breaking them up as well. Unfortunatly the male is the more active parent and he hates the camera so he may not cooperate.

It's been a long time since I've posted an update but I'm happy to say that the pair have successfully bred again this year!

The male is still holding them but I spotted the first tiny microscopic fry at his side today. I suspect he'll release them within the next couple days !

Unfortunately my male lost the fry shortly after I posted, I'm not sure if he was spooked or if the crazy temperature swings we have had was to blame.

Luckily they bred again shortly after loosing that first batch , I hope to see free swimmers any day now!
