Dwarf platies. Myth?

I'm just surprised at how small some of my platies are.

Most of what I have now are the descendants of a half dozen I got 2 years ago, and have been kept with guppies and white clouds.

What really strikes me is that the platies are smaller than even the male guppies of similar age. I have always noted that guppies are really hungry fish, and are much more quick in getting at food than platies.

I may try an separate some of these small platies in a tank of their own, to see if that helps them feed better and put on some weight!

i breed platys and i do get some dwarfs as well, and no matter how much food they get they don't grow very big, not sure what causes it but it also happens in mollys as well as guppys.

I bread platies back in the day and I also had some that never seamed to grow out completely. Could never really find a reason for it, just that a few were stunted.

I haven't noticed it in guppies. Tho one female guppy seems to be larger than even the largest platies.
