Where can I get black sand?

I am looking for black sand for a 50 gal corner tank for my 10 year old nephew. I introduced him to the hobby with some guppies. He is head over heals over these fish!! He wants to try black substrate to go with his homemade volcano and live plants. We live in upper Nova Scotia. Any ideas where I can get some?

    Fluorite has a black sand.

I've used it before. Needs to be rinsed a lot.

Petsmart carries a black sand by National Geographic. I use it and love it. In the beginning a small bit would stay floating on the surface but it does all sink eventually.
