home hardware has its own Home brand that says Aquarium safe on it , i use it all the time works fine
Support your local fish stores ...if you don't...you won't have them..and then it is too late to whine about it ...

Not all GE silicones are the same. The only local stuff I could find that works is for sale in the shops or Home Hardwares specific. Must say aquarium safe or it will have chemicals that like bacteria or off gas harm while drying. GEII is really common but not good. Let's mary has a small tube for little jobs Marineland brand.

Ge silicone 1 is 100% silicone no additives. They took off the aquarium safe print because people were putting together 120 -300 gallon tanks. And they would fail because the silicone is not an industrial adhesive. They got sued because of it. I have been using GE silicone 1 for the past 15 years re sealing tanks. And building tanks up to 75 gallons. It is Just fine to use. For larger tanks I use RTV 108. Or 103. Depending on the gallons

My 150 was re sealed with GE1. And has had no problems

I went to Rona on Almon, they had lots of GE I. Good stuff. I also like the RTV black from Home Home hardware Burnside.
