    Lotus

Does anyone have experience growing lotus on the east coast? I have grown them from seed and had them overwinter. Now I just want to be sure I give them what they want to flower (hopefully this year).

I've had red tiger lotus flower many times. Just provided good lighting, airflow, and dosed seachem products.. no co2 was used.

Sorry - I should have specified better. I meant sacred lotus.

I've heard Lotus are neat plants to keep. Is it possible to get the American lotus (Nelumbo lutea) around here? Seems like it would have excellant cold tolerance and its a pretty showy plant?

Everything I’ve read is that they have the same zones. There are a few places I know in Ontario that they grow and I have had them grow decent here. I just wanted to be sure I’m fertilizing at the correct times/amounts for our area to get flowers. Since I’ve grown them from seeds I know it takes a year or two before they will flower - I’m hopeful for this summer.
