Time for a mega build. 12’x4’x4’

Thought I’d start a thread for my new build. This is going to be an out door tank that will be incorporated into a garden shed looking building that will be 10x16 in size. The building will be well insulated and will house a tank with the inside dimensions of 144x48x48. The tank will be made of a very well built 4x4 frame with the tank area covered with 2 layers of 3/4 plywood. I will line it with a pond liner and install an acrylic viewing window 120”x32” This is going to a cold water tank for maybe trout or koi. I’m not 100% on filtration but I’ve got a few pool sand filters I’ll likely use. I’ll post some pics once I get started. Should be a fun build.

I’ve actually decided to make it much smaller if I do indeed build one. I’ll probably go 10x4x3 with an 8ft window to cut down on cost. I may just get out of the fish keeping hobby all togther too lol.

The setup and the planning is always fun. Then you start factoring costs and realize.. damn, that escalated quickly. :D

If do it, love to see it. Sounds like a very impressive project.

Well I went forward with the project. I ended up going 12x4x3. I’m hoping to get to the city today to pick up the materials to seal the tank with. Window is all ready. Here’s a pic. Click here to enlarge

A few trout for now. It’s been running a few days now and all looks good so I might take a trip to the hatchery today
